County of Douglas recently issued the following announcement.
If your daily commute takes you into Meridian, located in northern Douglas County, we have good news. Work will begin soon on a project that, once completed, will improve traffic flow through the Havana Street / Meridian Boulevard intersection.
In partnership with the Southeast Public Improvement Metropolitan District (SPIMD) and the Meridian Metropolitan District (MMD), the intersections of Meridian and Havana and Meridian and Maroon Circle will be reconfigured, including new turn lanes and a new traffic control system. Additionally, the concrete pavement on Meridian Boulevard from Maroon Circle to Havana Street will be removed and replaced.
The Board of County Commissioners approved a construction contract with Castle Rock Construction during a regular business meeting April 12. The total cost of the project is expected to be $6.1 million. SPIMD will contribute $2.65 million to the project, and MMD will contribute $450,000. The County will fund the rest. Visit the project website for updates.
Construction is expected to begin by June and be completed in mid-2023.
