At the regular meeting of the Board:
• Trustees heard a presentation by staff regarding Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) in grades three to eight. Trustees had an opportunity to review and discuss data, which is used to improve student learning outcomes. This item was for information and discussion only.
• The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the grant application to the Nevada Department of Education in the amount of $20.5 million. This is related to Assembly Bill 495 from the 2021 Nevada Legislative Session, American Rescue Plan: Addressing the Impact of Learning Loss and Closing Funding Gaps.
The next public meeting of the WCSD Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, November 8 at 2 p.m. at the WCSD Administration Building, 425 E. Ninth Street, Reno.
