he UNLV Department of Dance is pleased to announce its 2022-23 dance concert season, In Bloom.
The season opens with In Orchestra 5 on Oct. 21-22 in the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. This is the fifth collaborative concert between UNLV Dance and the UNLV Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Taras Krysa, and will feature a reimagining of the 1910 Ballet Russe work Firebird, with original live music by Igor Stravinsky.
In Full Bloom, Nov. 17-19 in Dance Studio HFA 111, features exciting choreography and lighting design by talented Bachelor of Fine Arts majors in Performance and Choreography and Dance Production and Management.
Fall ends with More Dance on Friday, Dec. 9, a streaming concert of innovative dance works performed in innovative site-specific locations.
Spring concerts begin with Dynamic Gardens, Feb. 24-25, 2023 in the Judy Bayley Theatre, which will feature works by faculty and guest artists including a classic work by Erick Hawkins, a significant choreographer of the 20th century.
Spring Forward on April 20-22, 2023, is the concert of milestone and capstone choreographed works and lighting by Bachelor of Fine Arts majors.
The season ends with Last Dance on Friday, May 5, 2023, a final streaming concert of works.
The dance season will contain choreography by full time dance faculty Cathy Allen, Victoria Dale, Louis Kavouras, Dolly Kelepecz-Momot, and new faculty member Jason Hortin, with lighting design by faculty design specialist Michael Jarett.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the UNLV Performing Arts Center Box Office, located on the northeast end of campus and attached to the south face of the parking garage. Maps and directions are available online. Individual show tickets may be purchased for $18 over the phone by calling 702-895-ARTS (2787) or online from the Performing Arts Center box office.
Discount tickets are available to seniors, military members, all students, UNLV faculty and staff, and UNLV alumni for $10. Streaming access for each concert will also be $10 per household. Additional fees may apply.
