Student Vaccination Guidelines for Spring Term

1

Sierra Nevada University issued the following announcement on Jan. 3

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has made several recommendations for continued vigilance to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. These recommendations are especially important in light of the Omicron variant’s higher transmissibility and lower vaccine susceptibility. The Omicron variant is 2-3 times more infectious than the previously dominant variants.

Get vaccinated – Get boosted!

Studies indicate that vaccine boosted antibodies provide significant protection against all forms of COVID-19, including Omicron, and significantly reduce the likelihood of severe disease requiring hospitalization. It is recommended that you get vaccinated and boosted in order to protect yourself, your family, and our community.

The vaccine mandate has expired, but . . .

Students are no longer required to provide proof of vaccination in order to register for classes. However, all students must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to their return to campus, regardless of vaccination or exemption status. And all students, faculty, and staff will be subject to mandatory random testing throughout the semester.

How can I get vaccinated?
